What is 1 squared
1 squared equals 1, because 1 × 1 = 1.
Once 1 = 1 × 1, 1 is also known as a, so called, perfect square.

What is a square and how to calculate its volume?
A square is a two dimensional figure which has its two edges of equal length. The area of a square is given by the product of its two dimensions. For example, if a square has its edge length equal to ‘a’ centimeters the area of the square is given by the product "a × a" which is equal to a2. The square shown has its edges equal to 4 units. So, its area is:
a2 = a × a × a = a2 = 4 × 4 × 4 = 64 units or cubic centimeters (64 cm2) (if we choose our area unit as square centimeters).
A perfect square is a number that can be expressed as the product of two equal integers.
A perfect square, also called a square number, is a number written by using the formula Sn = n2, where n is an integer.

Notice that:
- 0 squared is 0 (just make n = 0 in the formula Sn = n2)
- 1 squared is 1 (just make n = 1)
- Negative 0 squared is 0 (just make n = 0)
- Negative 1 squared is 1 (just make n = 1)
